MINUTES
WALKERSVILLE BURGESS & COMMISSIONERS TOWN MEETING
August 24, 2011
The Town meeting of the Walkersville Burgess & Commissioners was called to order on Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at 7:30 p.m. Those in attendance included Burgess Ralph Whitmore, Commissioners Sam Eyler, Donald Schildt, Chad Weddle, Russell Winch, and Debbie Zimmerman, Public Works Director Bob DePaola, TFC Ramona George, and 13 citizens.
The meeting was called to order by Burgess Ralph Whitmore, with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Commissioner Chad Weddle offered a prayer and a moment of silence to remember Harold Roderuck who had served the Town of Walkersville as a member of the Town’s Board of Appeals for over twenty five years.
1. MINUTES
Commissioner Debbie Zimmerman made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Russell Winch, to approve both the Town Meeting minutes and the Closed Legal and Personnel minutes of August 10, 2011. The motion passed by a vote of 5-0.
2. JUNE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS
Commissioner Chad Weddle made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Sam Eyler, to approve the General Fund and Water Fund June Financial Statements. The motion passed by a vote of 5-0.
3. ACCOUNTS PAYABLE
Commissioner Russell Winch made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Debbie Zimmerman, to pay the attached bills. The motion passed by a vote of 5-0.
4. COMMISSIONERS’ CONCERNS
Commissioner Donald Schildt expressed concerns that bringing children to the Walkersville schools from out of the area would result in overcrowding.
Burgess Whitmore informed commissioners that Commissioner Russell Winch will be the Town’s lead contact for the solar proposal and that Hurricane Irene is on a destructive path and warned residents to be aware of potential flooding.
Commissioner Russell Winch thanked the Planning and Zoning Board Members and Town Planner Susan Hauver for all of their hard work and time in putting together the Town’s Comprehensive Plan.
Commissioner Chad Weddle reminded individuals of the 9/11 Memorial Ceremony at the Walkersville Carnival Grounds stage at 6pm and that Glade Valley Alls sports has special 9/11 T-shirts available
5. CITIZENS’ CONCERNS
George Rudy – 11 W Crum Road – presented two documents
Dave Ennis – 118 Challedon Drive, Vice President of Glade Towne Community Association
Indicated letter from Association has been given to Town regarding zoning issues/compliance.
There being no further business or citizens’ concerns, the meeting adjourned at 7:46 p.m.
