WALKERSVILLE BURGESS & COMMISSIONERS TOWN MEETING
November 7, 2007
A special Town meeting pursuant to C3-7 of the Town Charter was called to order by Burgess Ralph Whitmore on Wednesday November 7, 2007 at 8:35pm following the Parks Committee meeting. In attendance were Burgess Whitmore, Commissioners Donald Schildt, Chad Weddle and Debbie Zimmerman; 7 citizens and 1 reporter. Absent were Commissioners Jim Reid and Roger Eyler.
The Board discussed the Resignation of Commissioner Jim Reid effective November 9, 2007. Options per the Town Charter C6-3 are to appoint a replacement within 30 days of the resignation or to have a special election to be held no sooner than 3 months and no later than 4 months from the resignation (Feb 9 – Mar 9). Motion by Commissioner Schildt, second by Commissioner Zimmerman to hold a special election, date to be set by Town Board of Elections. Motion Passed 3-0 Commissioners Schildt, Weddle and Zimmerman for approval.
Discussion of resignation of Dennis Miller and the staff’s recommendation to advertise for an entry level maintenance person. Motion by Commissioner Zimmerman, Second by Commissioner Schildt to advertise for an entry level Maintenance person. Motion Passed 3-0. Commissioners Schildt, Weddle and Zimmerman for approval.
Motion by Commissioner Weddle, Second by Commissioner Zimmerman to hold a closed legal meeting at Commissioner Eyler’s residence immediately following adjournment to discuss potential litigation. Motion passed 2-1. Zimmerman, Weddle in favor – Schildt in opposition.
Discussion that there would probably not be a quorum of elected Commissioners at the Nov 14th meeting due to Commissioner Reid’s resignation, Commissioner Weddle’s out of country travel, and Commissioner Eyler’s recovery from Knee surgery. Meeting will still be held on the 14th but no formal votes should be taken.
Burgess Whitmore allowed for any citizen questions or concerns. After hearing none, the meeting was adjourned at 8:45pm
