Cable Channel 99 The local cable company offers the Town of Walkersville a channel to list events and notices for town residents. This cable channel is used to communicate information from the Town Hall. Please watch this channel regularly to keep updated on local government issues, meetings, and other important announcements. Local emergency information could also be displayed, dependent upon the situation.
The Town Hall also offers non-profit organizations the opportunity to advertise their fund-raising events, meeting dates, and more, on this channel. If you would like to submit information to be displayed on the channel, you can contact the Town office by phone or mail, or simpler yet, complete our on-line form with your cable announcement. Dog and Cat Licenses Frederick County dog and cat licenses may be purchased at the Town Hall. Bring a rabies certificate (issued by your vet and containing expiration date of vaccine and tag number). Your application will be forwarded to Frederick County Animal Control and your license and tag will be mailed to your home.Dogs and cats are NOT permitted to run loose within the Town limits.[back to top]

Pets Pet owners are again reminded to carry a pooper-scooper and bag when walking their pets. Please do not allow your pet to use someone else's lawn, or leave a calling card in the street or on a sidewalk. Also, pets are expected to be on a leash or confined to your private property.[back to top]
Recycling Single stream recycling is here! Starting January 26, 2009 you can put your paper, plastic, cardboard, metal and glass recyclables into the same container! curbside pick-up will be every other week. Recyclables must be placed at the curb no later than 6 am of the day of collection. Please place cart with the lid facing the street, four feet from possible obstructions. Please note: Your curbside collection contractor is Allied Waste Services. Trash Collection Trash collection is provided by the Town, the cost of which is included in your property taxes. Collection day is Wednesday. Place containers and bundles at the curb before 7:00am Wednesday. Ecology Services will NOT take the following: Items in excess weight of 45 lbs., items in excess length of 3 1/2 feet, furniture, appliances, household hazardous waste, tires, mattresses, paint (unless dried by adding drying agent sand, sawdust, kitty litter), yard waste.

Sidewalks Maintenance of sidewalks and curbs is the responsibility of the home owner, not the Town. The home owner is required to clear the sidewalk of snow during the winter. Also, if your property has a fire hydrant, please clear it of snow for the convenience of the fire department and the safety of yourself and your neighbors.[back to top]
Snow Please keep in mind when cold weather approaches, you will be required to move your vehicle(s) off the street when snow begins to fall and leave them off the streets until the Town crew has completed its snow plowing. Vehicles parked on the streets will be towed. Those who shovel or blow snow into the street may be fined. Also, property owners are responsible for removing snow or ice from their sidewalks within 24 (twenty-four) hours after it has ceased falling.[back to top]
Unlicensed or Inoperative Vehicles All unlicensed or inoperative vehicles must be stored within a fully enclosed building. Unlicensed or inoperative vehicles stored outside in yards, driveways, streets, etc., are in violation of the Town Zoning Code and subject to a fine of up to $100 per day.[back to top]
Yard Waste Grass clippings, leaves, branches under four inches in diameter and other yard waste can be taken to Heritage Farm Park compost pile. Our trash hauler will NOT collect this material.
