COMPREHENSIVE PLAN

The Town of Walkersville Comprehensive Plan and Comprehensive Plan Map was adopted in 2005 and is updated every 5 years.

Permits are needed to construct or erect any permanent structure (such as a fence, shed, deck, garage, carport or swimming pool), or to make certain changes to existing structures.

Check with your homeowner's association first for requirements which may differ from the Town Code. Home occupations, such as professional offices, childcare, or music instructions, also require a permit.

  • Home Occupation Certificates may be obtained at the Town Hall.
  • Building Permit applications may be obtained at the Frederick County Division of Permitting and Development Review Office located at 30 North Market Street, Frederick, MD 21701.

  3. Obtain a Zoning Certificate/Building Permit.
  4. Contact the Frederick Co. Permits Office at 301-600-1089.

business
  1. Live in single family home, employ only family members living on the premises, have no retail sales, emit no uncomfortable or harmful odors, noise, or other obnoxious elements, and have only one sign, affixed to building, not exceeding two square feet.
  2. Complete a home occupation questionnaire.

  4. Check with Homeowners Association if required by covenant.
